Our consultation services can be utilized on-line virtually, and our current physical reach is the East and West Kootenays. David is willing to reach out farther for those in need of assistance.
Aside from consulting and the above aforementioned services, David and Chantal have expanded the garden aspect of their offerings to concentrate more on sustainable food and healing gardens. Typically, these plants are available in the spring and summer in our nursery at the market and various farmers markets in our local area.

Homestead establishment program
We have a special place in our hearts for people who have a genuine passion for establishing their own food sources. David has worked hard to compose a homestead establishment program to not only help people get a homestead started but also grow and enhance a current or struggling operation. Through both failure and success of his own, David can offer knowledgeable insights leading to a flourishing homestead or food production operation using affordable tried and proven old-fashioned harmful chemical-free methods of horticulture and husbandry.

Garden support and systems

David Bailey is of Metis ancestry and he was born and raised in the East Kootenays in a rural farm setting. David's love for plants and the land was established when he was 11 years old after creating his first garden. David was raised on his family's farm and has had a special place in his heart for all critters since a young age. In addition to learning animal husbandry and processing, David spent many years throughout his teens into his 40's in the trades
A decade ago, David acquired an acreage and was called to put all of these life skills to work through developing and remediating the land to coexist with the natural setting of his homestead in a well way.
Eventually, after repairing and building the soil, David began raising goats and chickens and later ducks and rabbits. Throughout this decade on what is now akiikaa homestead, the initial 10 x 10 garden expanded into an acre permaculture growing operation to a now 100 foot greenhouse and garden spaces throughout the acreage.
David loves teaching and sharing the wisdom he has worked so hard to acquire, and several years ago started working with urban and rural homesteaders. His consultations support community members on how to utilize their growing spaces efficiently, how to build soil, how to grow food, and so much more.
